Ghana is a country rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. It’s a popular destination for travellers looking to experience West African culture, and with good reason. From the vibrant markets and lively music scene in Accra to the historic castles and lush rainforests, Ghana has something for everyone. Take a day trip to Cape Coast, a seaside town about two hours from Accra. Here, you’ll visit the Elmina and Cape Coast Castles, two of Ghana’s most famous historical sites. These castles were used as trading posts in the transatlantic slave trade, and visiting them is a powerful and emotional experience. You’ll learn about the history of the trade and see the cramped and inhumane conditions that slaves were kept in before being shipped to the Americas.
